Panama is situated amidst large rainforests, which is one of the reasons many tourists visit every year. It is home to over ten thousand plant species and over a thousand different birds. There is also no shortage of national parks in Panama.

The first national park to have boundaries in two countries is the Amistad, which is situated in Panama but also in Costa Rica. A tourist visiting Amistad can easily find accommodation and modes of travel, among other services. They are also invited to fish in a local river called Teribe.

The Bastimentos Marine Park consists of several islands and has wildlife and sandy beaches. The protective reach of the Bastimentos is not reserved for just the animals and beaches but also for the coral reef off its shores.

Home to the Baru Volcano, the Baru covers a wide portion of rainforest. The top of the volcano, with its scenic views, is accessible by car, and tourists are likely to see wildlife during the trip up.

Smaller than other nature parks, the Barro Colorado is a grouping of mixed landforms. Tourists can sign up for a guided sight seeing trip that will include visiting the Giant Tree.

Located within Campana are monkeys and wild pigs, not to mention different birds and reptiles. A local hero, the Golden Frog, can also be found in Campana. It is noteworthy to add that the Golden Frog is at risk of extinction.

An animal refuge known for its nocturnal turtle activity is called the Canas Wildlife Refuge. It also offers travelers trails for hiking and places to go swimming and snorkeling.

The Panama Canal owes its water supply to the waters of the Chagres National Park. However, this is not the only thing notable about its waters. They are also famous for great rafting, fishing, sailing, and other water sports. Some visitors also enjoy camping and searching for birds.

Coiba is further from bigger towns than other parks, and as a result has fewer accommodations. Despite this it still witnesses a fair share of yearly travelers who seek out its beaches, where reportedly turtles make their nests. In addition, in its ocean waters swim Marlins.

Darien is not only home to rainforest animals but also to indigenous tribes. Travelers can explore the jungles where it is not uncommon to meet indigenous people. Some visitors have even watched tribal dancing.

Iguana is known for the vast size of its iguana population. However, that is not all. There are other animals that live in Iguana, such as turtles. It is also famous as one of the places migrating whales stop at.

This has been a taste of what Panama offers in terms of national parks. They are all filled with an assortment of flora and fauna, and each with its own special offerings. Just to further illustrate the extent of diversity awaiting a potential visitor, there is even a park found just minutes from the downtown area of the capital city
