Tarry Town is known as one of Austin's most centrally located and historic neighborhoods. It's bordered by 35th Street on the north, MoPac on the east, Lake Austin on the west, and Enfield on the south. As you stroll through the neighborhood, you'll find a variety of living styles - large and luxurious older homes and cottages are alongside a few high-end condominiums and aging but classic-styled apartments.

Tarry Town itself is known as a quiet neighborhood without a lot of businesses. However, it puts residents within minutes of nearby restaurants and entertainment, and is also home to highly ranked Casis Elementary and the O. Henry Middle School. Tarry Town Center and Casis Village are two of the few shopping centers that make their home in the neighborhood, both of which feature local businesses.

As you explore the area, you'll find the occasional coffee shop to relax with friends. Mozart's Coffee Roasters sits on the shores of Lake Austin and offers sophisticated desserts and coffee, along with beautiful views of the lake. Texenza Coffee is another hot spot, serving a light lunch and dinner menu and specialty coffee drinks.

When you're in the mood for a bite to eat, Tarry Town has several nearby options. The well-known Magnolia Cafe sits on Lake Austin Boulevard and has been an Austin favorite for several years. It's open 24 hours a day and serves breakfast and lunch dishes. Hula Hut serves Mexican and Polynesian cuisine, and is a popular tourist spot. Other favorites include Zoot that serves sophisticated local fare, and Food Food, a quaint bakery and cafe.

On the weekends, Tarry Town residents can enjoy places like Reed Park and Mayfield Preserve. Reed Park is great for the whole family, with a playground, picnic tables and a barbeque pit, and swimming pool. Mayfield Preserve, a turn-of-the-century Austin park spans 22 acres and is a great place to spend a peaceful afternoon. It's home to beautiful gardens and ponds, as well as peacocks and tame deer on ocassion. Tarry Town also has it's own golf course, Tarrytown Lions Municipal Golf Course, that's played host to several professional golfers include Austin native Ben Crenshaw.

In the summertime, Tarry Town is alive with recreation. Deep Eddy Pool is a popular swimming spot, charging just $3 per person for admission. A Deep Eddy movie night is also offered during the warm months. Families will gather with picnics to catch their favorite flick.
