Expert Legal Advice -how To Change Your Name?

By:

You can change your name by two legal processes. Are you looking for the Free Online Legal Advice in UK regarding this? In the coming paragraph, you will find all details about legal advice online in London on the given topic. Now go through the interesting expert legal advice by general life examples for better understanding.

You will (or are likely to have) heard of, Deed Poll. The other is to make Statutory Declaration with regard to your name change.

A Deed Poll is simply a document with lots and lots of legal wording in (albeit relatively simple wording) whereby you confirm that you are changing your name from A to B and you sign the document and it is witnessed by two people. Thats it. You can enrol the Deed at The Royal Courts of Justice but it is of no effect as it costs a few hundred quid to do it, it is a complete and utter waste of money.

The alternative legal way of changing your name is to swear, on oath, in front of a Solicitor or Commissioner for Oaths, a Statutory Declaration. This does not need witnessing by anybody other than the Solicitor who swears it for you and, as with the Deed Poll, nothing happens with it. Just contact any Online Solicitor if you do not have time to visit the office.

Either document is simply proof that you have changed your name and is the document that you need to show to the (for example) DVLA, Passport Office, Post Office, bank etc, etc. Most organisations will want to actually see the original.

Of course, you dont have to go through the legal process of changing your name you can simply call yourself almost anything you like. However, if you were (for example) a wrestler and you decided to simply call yourself Big Daddy then Shirley Crabtree (the real Big Daddy wrestler) would probably get a little upset. However, if you were a wrestler, and you changed your name by Deed Poll or Statutory Declaration to Big Daddy then Im afraid that Shirley Crabtree would not be able to object. You are entitled to use your own name.

As far as I am aware Elton John never changed his name legally from Reginald White and Harry Webb never changed his to Cliff Richard.

You can do it yourself provided that you know the format of the documents or you could visit one of the many name changed sites on the Internet such as www.change-name.co.uk.

And if you dont like your new name, you can always change it back to what it was or change it to something else.

Please note this is not meant to be a definite instruction book as to how to change your name but simply point you in a direction. We always suggest that you use qualified professionals, Solicitors Online, Legal Executives or whatever.
