Experience Days: Magical Moments For All

By:

Sometimes it takes a special experience to wake us up out of normal routine. The familiar pattern of the 9 to 5 can make us forget how exciting life can actually be. That's where an experience day might shock us (in a good way!) out of our routine and wake us up to all the natural highs available.

Experience days, at their very best, allow you to try something you've never encountered before.

Picture finding yourself submerged in clear blue water on a white sandy seabed, surrounded by brightly coloured fish: you realise you're in another world down there. Your experience day just pushed you a little further than you normally go.

Or you might find yourself wobbling around on a snowboard for the first time. Your bruised behind may tell you your choice of experience days was a bit erroneous, but once you find your balance and slide down your first stretch of piste, you'll realise it's all worth it.

The human body is an incredibly adaptable machine, as is the brain which controls it. Persuading this highly complex lump of grey matter to take the plunge and try something new is not always easy. But once you take that little leap of faith, your body and mind is rewarded by serotonin and endorphins. In simple terms, this means fun.

It's precisely because of this tiny extra risk, provided by many experience days, that your mind gives you a little kick as a thank you for surviving! This sounds a bit dramatic, but trying something physically challenging is a life affirming activity indeed.

Of course, some experience days are more adrenaline inducing than others; a bungy jump for example may be many people's idea of pushing it a little too far! The problem for many when offered the chance to fling themselves off a high bridge, is that they simply do not believe there is a rope attached to them - or that if there is one, it will actually work! To the quaking onlooker, it seems quite insane. It is said that there is a natural urge to jump of high structures when we are close to the edge - so bungy jumping gives us the perfect way to exercise this desire - and survive!

Perhaps some would prefer slices of cucumber on their eyes rather than adrenaline sports safety goggles. For those looking for one of the more laid back experience days, there are plenty of fun filled experiences that don't place you in mortal danger! Manicures and pedicures are great for a bit of pampering - as is a facial or a massage. The body might not receive this much pleasure on a normal day, so they can be an experience indeed.

For those looking to escape from the routine of daily life, one of the various experience days can be just what the doctor ordered. Fly through the air, slip through the sea, slide down the mountain or recline on the massage bed - there's really an experience day for all.
