Seventy percent of deaths (1.5 million) each year in the U.S. are from seven diseases: heart disease, cancer, stroke, hypertension, chronic obstructive

pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes and osteoporosis. A powerful medicine in its own right, exercise can prevent or treat each of these. In addition, exercise

can prevent or significantly improve disabling conditions such as obesity, arthritis and depression.Baby Boomers, the biggest group within the U.S.

population, are entering their retirement years and want to maintain a quality of life as they age. Advances in medicine continue to make it possible for

people to live longer but how valuable will those extra years be if you are disabled by chronic illness? A simple, effective exercise program can enhance

function up to 20% and reduce biological age by 10 to 20 years! The right exercise plan is essential to your health, well being and quality of life. I can

help you find and maintain an exercise program that is individualized for you that is both effective and efficient. I can teach you how, in less than one

hour a day five days a week, to balance aerobic conditioning, strength training and flexibility to give you the results you want and need.

Lately we have been getting a lot of conflicting information about the value of supplements as well as their safety. If we set aside all the media hype, there are a number of reasons why supplements are important. First, the increased consumption of processed food by Americans limits the micronutrients we consume. Second, with increasing prescription drug use (esp. as we age), these nutrients are either not adequately absorbed or are increasingly consumed to counteract internal and external stresses on the body. Lets presume that you eat a healthy diet and do not take prescription medications. Why should you take supplements?

1. It is becoming increasingly more difficult to consume adequate amounts of micronutrients in our diet.

-The soil our food is grown in is becoming increasingly depleted of micronutrients. A report from the Journal of the American College of Nutrition has confirmed that the micronutrient levels in our fruits and vegetables is decreasing due to soil depletion.

-Genetic modification and selective breeding has reduced micronutrient levels. The current focus of growers is on appearance of our produce. In addition, the focus is on growing produce that weighs more and ships with less spoilage. Unfortunately, many of these strains have as little as 50% of nutrients compared to nongenetically modified foods.

-Produce is shipped unripe to reduce spoilage. Most of the nutrient content in produce comes from sun ripening. In fact, 50% of nutrients are formed during the last 20% of ripening, which is now eliminated by the harvesting of unripe produce.

-Increasing use of pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers means the we are ingesting more toxins.

2. Our busy, overstressed lifestysles make it difficult to eat optimally.

Do you or anyone you know routinely eat 8 to 10 servings of fruits and vegetables? Population studies from all over the world show that eating habits are a major contributor to lifespan and the development of disease.

3. As we age, our digestive system becomes less effective at breaking down food and absorbing its nutrients.
