Executives Have To Undertake Quick Action

I believe in dreaming. It's a worthwhile concept. You can manifest things. But, don't rely on it alone.

Action must take place. Even for a manifestation to work. Just trying to think things into existance will not do the job. I know, its disappointing, but it is true.

Then again, some do not take any action. Why? The fear of failure. Instead, many just sit and think about it.

A zero result is a certainty for these individuals. Sitting and thinking does have its rightful place. It is not useless.

Sometimes all of our digital capabilities makes this issues even worse. It allows us to spend even more time on these non-result" producing efforts.

A sub captain in the second World War had to be very careful. He had to aim his entire sub to hit the target. Long hours and days were vital for survival. Thats because the torpedo worked much like a bullet. You have to have the proper aim before you pull the trigger.

It you were in that position, you better act the same way.

A modern torpedo is not that way. It can be guided.

A major plus. Now, the captain can almost fire and forget. He does not need to be extra careful about aiming before he fires. No time available for planning.

Now, he have fire right away. After the torpedo is in the water, he can steer it. He faced dire consequences for inaction.

Today action is imperative. During the second world war, fast action was dangerous. What is the reason for this major change? Very dangerous because if you miss your target, the target would know where you where and hunt you down.

Acting like a WW2 captain would prove deadly to today's captain. Huh? Time is on the opposition's side.

Many of today's leaders in business use WW2's techniques. They do not seem to realize that if they wait to act, it could be too late.

Today we live in a much faster world. Like the moderm sub captain. Thankfully not actually live threatening, but dangerous nonetheless. Sure, not life and death perhaps, but very fast moving nonetheless.

You have to act. Your delay can be costly. So, act and adjust while underway. You can not take the time to plan, plot and ponder first.

I often discuss this issue. She had an employee not taking any forward steps. She complained about too much "getting ready." Great credentials it seemed, but no real productivity. Everything was always on hold.

I told her about the young man who was sent out to get a deer for dinner to feed his family. He brought back a rabbit instead of a deer. It turns out, he could not find a deer in the woods. So, rather than return empty handed he shot a rabbit.

They had a dinner. They did not get a story about a fruitless hunt.

Dinner was more important than a deer. Today, I see too many people focused on finding their "deer" and everyone goes hungry.
