The early morning or late evening is the best time for game viewing in the park. It gets rather hot during the summer time and the animals tend to hide in the shade of the trees. There is seldom rain during the winter and consequentially a fair amount of waterholes dry up, increasing your chances of seeing the more elusive animals when they come to drink.

You can book a safari tour with an operator at the Kruger National Park and they will take you out in a 4x4 or minibus. There are some who insist that a far better way to experience the Park is to hike with a guide, as this way you are in close contact with the life of the park. Obviously the guide would take the necessary precautions to ensure your safety in regard to staying out of the scent ranges of the more dangerous animals and so forth.

Visiting the Kruger National Park is undoubtedly a breath-taking experience as it is always exhilarating to see the Big 5. The terminology Big 5 means the five most dangerous animals to hunt on foot and refers to five of Africas greatest animals, the lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino.
