Plymouth, a city located on the coast of Devon, England is situated approximately 190 miles southwest of London. Plymouths history stretches back to the Bronze Age, when the first settlement was established in the vicinity. During the era of the Roman Empire the settlement developed steadily, but was surpassed by the town of Sutton, which was actually the site of modern Plymouth. The Pilgrim Fathers left Plymouth for the American colonies in 1620, and founded Plymouth Colony, the second English settlement in the colonies. At the time of the English Civil War the city was controlled by the Parliamentarians.

Plymouth developed as a key shipping port throughout the period of the Industrial Revolution, handling passengers and goods from the Americas and assembling ships for the Royal Navy. Due to the naval importance of the city it was targeted and partially destroyed during World War II. After the end of hostilities the city centre was entirely rebuilt. Today in addition to shipbuilding Plymouths economy has expanded in the service sector.

The Plymouth Ski and Snowboard Centre is one of the most exciting attractions in the area. Easily accessible from Cornwall, Devon and Somerset, the centre is open throughout the year. It provides snowboarders and skiers of all abilities with the opportunity to enjoy themselves and the facilities to hone and develop their skills. The centre offers three ski slopes to select from, including the longest man-made slope in the region, and is the ideal setting for skiers and snowboarders to practice and enhance their skills.

The centre also offers an exciting 650m toboggan ride and thrilling Sno-tube rides. The amenities available at the Plymouth Ski and Snowboard Centre also make it ideal for conferences, weddings or parties with a fully equipped restaurant and bar on the premises.

When selecting a Plymouth hotel , there is no finer choice than the Copthorne Hotel Plymouth. This hotel in Plymouth Devon located in the city centre offers well appointed rooms, modern amenities and gracious hospitality.
