Excessive Sweating Is A Medical Condition

By:

At this point in time, many people are wondering, how much is too much? You probably think that your level of sweating is normal, especially if other persons in your family and around you seem to sweat in a similar fashion, but it is not normally, it is a condition.

The most common types of hyperhidrosis tend to take place within individuals hands and feet, we as non-medical personnel, simply refer to it as sweaty hands or sweaty feet and nothing more. But this is a type of hyperhidrosis that is known as localized hyperhidrosis. This is where it is centralised to just one or two locations in your entire body and in this case, it is your hands or feet or both.

You may not know how much is too much, but consider these factors; if you have to walk with a rag or handkerchief to constantly dry your hands, then it is possible that your are affected by hyperhidrosis. If you have to constantly dry your hands in your clothes and leave damp spots on your books and notepads when you write, then it is possible that you suffer from hyperhidrosis. If you cannot hold metallic objects for more than a few minutes without producing a lot of "handmade" water, then you are probably suffering from hyperhidrosis. If you are afraid that you might damage your small electrical devices because you sweat excessively when you hold them in your hand, then you may have palmar hyperhidrosis.

The above speculations are confirmed facts, but you may want to get yourself diagnosed by a physician. In a similar fashion, the sweaty feet need to be evaluated. If you wear socks everyday and they are often damp when you take them off, you may have the excess sweating disorder and if you wear your shoes without socks and find that inside your shoes is wet and clammy feeling; you may have excessive sweating of the feet.

These sections of the body that features excess sweating, would fall under the localized hyperhidrosis classification while generalised hyperhidrosis is used when excess sweating occurs over many parts of the body or a wide relatively area. Another way to self check for hyperhidrosis, is to watch out for similar traits within your family. The fact is that a type of hyperhidrosis is genetic and is referred to as Primary Hyperhidrosis. When this occurs, you will realise that other person within your immediate family will also have the same excessive sweating issues that you do. It may not be the same exact areas (even though most times it is) but it is usually present.

If you have gotten yourself checked out by a medical professional and have been diagnosed with hyperhidrosis of any sort, do not be alarmed because you can be treated and you medical professional will provide you with the different types of treatments.
