Every Unit Of The Protoss Race Of Starcraft 2

By:

Here, you'll observe a listing of the new Protoss units appearing in Starcraft 2, along with their strengths and their cons of every unit. As I cannot explain every single stratagem in a single article, you'll have a good idea of how to use all the various Protoss race units within SC2 by the time you finish reading. That being said, on with the list!

Zealot - The Zealot is the basic early type of unit of the Protoss which requires a Gateway to start training them. They have the "Charge" ability that allows them to jump to nearby enemies every 10 seconds.

Sentry

The Sentry attacks from range which can attack both air and ground. They have two very important abilities: Force Field and also Guardian Shield. Force Field can be used to split the enemy troops and Guardian Shield boosts units defence from enemy ranged units.

Stalker

The Stalker is a lot like the Dragoon from Starcraft 2. It is decent but not great versus ground units and strong versus air units. The Stalker possesses a unique new ability, Blink, that allows them to cut through space (allows them to pass through terrain) every 10 seconds. This provides the Stalker awesome mobility than the previous Dragoon.

Immortal

The Immortal is one of the never before seen Protoss units in SC2. The Immortal reduces all damage they take to 10 (as long as their shields are up) and does a great deal of bonus damage to armored units. It is the Protoss' Siege Tank counter and should be used whenever the enemy is making heavy use of large ground units.

Colossus

The Colossus is the replacement for the Reaver from the original Starcraft. The Colossus deals an area of effect damage and is absolutely effective against Marines, Zerglings, Zealots, and Hydralisks. It is however close to useless against heavy ground and air units.

Warp Prism

The Warp Prism is an air unit which can carry and drop off ground units. Also, it can go into "Phase mode", at which point you can use your Warp Gates teleport units to Warp Prism's area of effect.

Phoenix

The Phoenix is a unique new air unit. First of all, it can only attack other air units. Also, it does very little damage versus armored units, but deals significant damage to light armored units. Therefore, it is only particularly effective versus Mutalisks and Banshees.

Also, the Phoenix has an ability, Graviton Beam, which let's them levitate ground units. Other Phoenix are then able to attack the ground unit which is now foating in the sky. This ability along with their high speed manouverability makes it great for harassing enemy workers.

Void Ray

The Void Ray is a never before seen unit available to Protoss. The Void Ray is considered fairly strong, doesn't cost too much supply (3 supplies in this case) an air unit the Protoss did not have in the original Starcraft. Their beams do more damage the longer they attack the same target, and eventually cause massive damage when fully charged. Therefore, it's a good idea to use the Void Ray to sneak in the side of an enemy's base and allow it to charge up off of the enemy's buildings. By the time they're discovered, the Void Ray will be charged and ready to fight.

Mothership

The Mothership is the substitute of the Arbiter from the original Starcraft. Its Mass Recall and Vortex skill work very similar to the Arbiter's Mass Recall and Statis Field, respectively (the Mothership's abilities cover a larger area). The main difference between the two is that the Mothership is larger, more costly, and harder to construct. Also, you can only build one Mothership.
