Flower symbolism is obviously a charming and very old way of conveying a personal message to someone special. Every flower symbolises a culture and tradition. Flower symbolism gives an insight into the age old cultures and traditions of people who have taken the pain to grow them. Bluebells personify modesty and thankfulness. They symbolise and stand for loyalty, gratefulness and undying love. Bluebells are also nicknamed 'fairy thimbles'. It is believed that if we have to invite fairies for a convention, bluebells are normally rung.

Bluebells are found in North Africa and Western Europe. In some places, they are called wild hyacinths. Bluebells grow lushly in grasslands, along bushy areas and mountainsides. They associate themselves with the lily family and are natives of Spain and Portugal. Blue bells are well appreciated and adored in Britain. Bluebells do not require special care and are able to withstand both sun as well as shade. They blossom beautifully even if they are not tended to. Bluebells blossom in early April till June. These fragile flowers hand from the central stem. The colour of the leaves vary from light green to medium green. Add that special touch to your garden by growing these exclusive and dearly-loved flowers.

Marigolds are referred to as the "Herb of the Sun". They represent love, ardor, obsession and imagination. Marigolds are included in wedding garlands as they are love charms. In many cultures, marigolds are kept beneath the pillows so as to attract supernatural dreams. The zodiac sign is associated with marigold flowers. The Portuguese planted these beautiful flowers in India and thus the Hindu Gods like Lakshmi and Vishnu were offered these flowers.

The Aztec Indians considered these flowers holy and used them to adorn their temples. It was also considered that the plague could be controlled by using marigold flowers. Marigolds also stand for unkindness, meanness and envy. Marigolds are extensively grown in America, Africa and Europe. They grow well in fertile soil and enough sunshine.

Warts can be effectively treated by used marigold leaves. Marigold flowers are included in chicken feed. Chickens fed on marigold flowers produce deep yellow-coloured eggs. The chicken flesh is also deep yellow in colour, making it more attractive. Marigold blossoms are added to cheese and egg dishes and they are quite tasty and edible. The fabric industry uses marigold to impart the deep yellow colour to cloth. The marigold plant is tough with rusty red, yellow or orange blooms. The height of the plant varies from 6 inches to 36 inches. The odour of the marigold plant is supposed to drive away insects from gardens.

The poinsettia is native to Central America and Mexico. It symbolises purity and transparency. It is also referred to as the 'Mexican flame leaf' and 'Christmas flower'. The radiant and brilliant poinsettias petals are leaves. The flowers are cute and yellow in colour. Some poinsettias are bright red in color. Some other colours are yellow, pink, peach and cream.

Nature thus has so much to offer mankind and in these flowers we are able to experience Mother Nature at her best.
