Evaluating Roofing Companies And Contractor

By:

When choosing the roofing company or contractor to re-roof, re-shingle or repair your roofs at home, it is imperative that you evaluate them thoroughly. Remember, it is a huge investment therefore you must be wise in choosing the people who will do the job for you. You must be able to trust them that they will do an excellent job in re-roofing your homes. Different companies and contractors may vary in a lot of things such as warranties and services they provide. Here are some evaluation tips that you should consider before hiring a roofing company or contractor.

The first important thing that you should look for a roofing company or contractor is his license and insurance. The companys license must not be expired and his insurance must cover all the accidents that might occur while doing the job. His workers must also be insured so that you wont have any liability when accidents happen. A good roofing company wont have any problem showing their license and insurance to you.

Next is the proposal. You must look thoroughly on the contractors proposal. If you are getting estimates from different companies, you must compare the packages thoroughly, not just on the total cost. You must be able to compare the quality of the materials that are being used. Sometimes, even if the quote of the other company is a little higher than the others but it gives you superior quality materials, then it is better to go for it than go through with the cheaper quote with less quality materials. After all, spending a few more dollars for better quality can make a huge difference.

Next is to ask for references from the roofing company. You must ask at least five to ten names, numbers and address of the customers they had in the past few months. If they cant give you references, then they might be hiding something or their clients are not happy with their job. An excellent roofing company could provide you with the names, and better yet, they are willing to show you their past actual works. When you have the list with you, you can now contact their past customers and ask some questions regarding the work of the company and you can even drive around to see for yourself their past jobs.

And the last but not the least is to ask for warranties. The warranties should be written in the contract. Do not accept verbal warranties because you cant run after the company or contactor when problem occurs. If they cant give you written warranties, then do not give them the job.
