Essex Recruitment: Common Job Types In This County

The Essex recruitment industry is a busy one despite the current difficult economic situation. There are a range of industries which are strong across the region, along with the more common kinds of jobs you get right across the country.

This article takes a brief look at the sort of jobs being offered by Essex recruitment agencies in 2009. As is obvious to anyone who has visited this county, Essex is an overwhelmingly flat part of the United Kingdom. Its highest point is near the village of Langley reaching 147 metres. The non undulating nature of Essex makes it prime agricultural land and so farming jobs are fairly common here, despite the heavy mechanisation of the industry.

Other jobs that Essex recruitment agencies might offer are electronic development and manufacturing related. The famous Marconi brand is based in Chelmsford - which is now part of Telent plc (itself owned by Swedish company Sony Ericsson). Another big employer in Chelmsford is the famous Britvic soft drinks company, which is the UK canner of Pepsi and 7up along with various other popular drinks. It is the 2nd biggest producer of soft drinks in the country.

Chelmsford and its surrounding area is also known for its financial and insurances services, which utilise the large pool of skilled workers available in this area.

Colchester also has a range of financial services operating in its vicinity - particularly the Severalls Industrial Park, which includes the likes of Capita and Royal Bank of Scotland. But Colchester - which is Britain's oldest recorded town - gets a great deal of its wealth from the local garrison which houses the 16th Air Assault Brigade and the 'Glasshouse' Corrective Military Facility. When the soldiers are not based abroad, this brings a lot of business to the town centre. The Army is a mainstay of Essex recruitment.

There is also a Visual Arts Centre in the process of being built - but due to a shortfall in money it has not yet been completed. If it does get completed then Essex recruitment agencies will no doubt be able to offer a great deal of work to Colchester locals.

The Lakeside Shopping Centre was one of the United Kingdom's first out of town shopping developments and is in direct competition with the famous Bluewater shopping centre. In spite of this, it remains very popular with shoppers. As such a huge complex of shops and entertainment facilities, it provides Essex recruitment agencies with a wide range of jobs to offer the local population of Thurrock (where the development is based).

Despite the recession then, there are still plenty of job opportunities for those who really seek them out.
