A person doesn't put much thought about their sense of hearing believing it will stay with them until the end. The success of the operation lies in a lot of factors such as a person's hearing history, cause of hearing loss, amount of residual hearing, health status and commitment to rehabilitation or post implant therapy.

Gene therapy is also a new form of hearing treatment that is being looked at by specialists. Gene therapy is a procedure wherein a person with damaged cochlea cells can have them regrown or grown. Gene therapy however, is still in its early and infancy stages as research and testing are still being done.

Hearing treatments are the worst case scenarios in dealing with unavoidable hearing loss. Each hearing treatment available have their own pros and cons and only a specialist or doctor familiar with the technology and science can know for sure. Life isn't the same when you don't have your sense of hearing.
