Thats the problem majority of us are facing in this fast paced world. Although we generally tend to neglect the essence of a good nights sleep, it is as important as exercising and having the right kind of food.
Children, who do not nap properly at night, end up being inattentive in school, thus leading to poor performance. The National Sleep Foundation has recently reported that even babies are snoozing an average of 90 minutes less than the recommended 14 hours of snooze a day. Another study by the University of British Columbia found that failing to get enough snooze or napping at odd hours heightens the risk for a variety of major illnesses, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes and obesity.
Can you now see a direct link between the growing problem of obesity and sleeplessness? When you dont get enough nap at night, you tend to get up late in the morning. This might lead to a rushed breakfast (which is the most important meal of the day) or force you to eat a quick bite of junk food (junk food does nothing more than adding extra layers of fat in the body). This just makes things worse: poor eating habits, and unhealthy morning meals; the result: a nation which is sprawling towards obesity.
Moreover, after a not so good nights nap, you would generally wake up feeling irritated or cranky. This might make you unapproachable to others. A foul mood would also inhibit your brain from being energetic or enthusiastic about any kind of activity or work.
Is there a way to improve this condition? The answer is yes.
Try taking a warm bath before going to bed. This will relax your body and mind to a great extent. You can also use aromatherapy essential oils for relaxation. Try making exercise a habit. You need not hit the gym everyday for it. Walking is the best and the most economical form of exercising. Music comes to rescue for many who are fond of it. Put on some soothing music and let it comfort you to the extent for sleepiness. Avoid consumption of caffeine before going to bed. Avoid alcohol and smoking before bedtime.
