Error C1030af3 in Exchange Server and EDB Recovery

When you try to expand the Public Folder of your Exchange Server, you get the following error message:

"The HTTP service used by Public Folders is not available, possible causes are that Public stores are not mounted and

the Information Store service is not running.

ID no: c1030af3

Exchange System Manager"

After this error message, you won't be able to access even a single bit of data from your Exchange Server database or EDB file.

Grounds of the trouble

There are several possible reasons of this massive problem. Some of the common reasons are given below:

- Inappropriate authentication method is set in Information Store

- Active Directory Permissions are set incorrectly or has god damaged

- The MSExchDS2MB options for the exadmin virtual directory are set incorrectly or has got damaged

- The path of Information Store Service to the EDB is damaged

- The entire EDB file has got damaged

Resolution

There are two possible resolutions available of this problem depending upon the reason of database corruption. These are:

- Reset the authentication method of Exchange Server Information Store

- Repair the damaged database using appropriate third party applications if the above method doesn't work
