Equestrian Supplies - Getting Started In The Extraordinary World Of Equestrianism

By:

When you first enter the world of equestrianism, you often pay all of your attention to the horse and understandably want to make sure that the animal is well cared for, is well presented and looks spectacular. Sooner or later you need to get around to thinking about the equestrian clothing that you will need, as this is a whole new area of consideration for you, prior to your first experience or event. You cannot just mount and go riding and expect to be comfortable, as well as being able to perform in a specific style of event. Comfort and protection are paramount considerations and your riding clothes wear should be selected with your ultimate outcome in mind.

When aiming for more formal events, you will need to consider more formal attire, sometimes also known as English style clothing, when you will select your riding pants or trousers, your breeches or jodhpurs. The jodhpurs are the more formal of the products and the legs on these items are full-length and designed to be used with low riding boots. Breeches, on the other hand, end midway down the lower leg and are designed to be used with taller boots.

Look carefully at your boots and make sure that they are always connected to the stirrup and you will also have to be careful that your lower leg is protected from damage by rubbing against the saddle. You can get riding chaps to give you more protection and these come in either half or full length. When you ride your legs and lower body are moving the most and come into contact with the horse a lot, so make sure you have adequate protection and as little discomfort as possible.

The helmet is one of the most important items of equestrian clothing. Never ride a horse without one and make sure that you choose something that is comfortable, snugly fitting and well-crafted. You certainly don't want to be testing the authenticity of this item in the real world!

When you are taking part in competition, appearance is everything. Always make sure that both you and your horse are presented well and that you are keeping up with the latest fashions when it comes to riding clothes wear. Specific styles of competition have specific requirements and you should always dress appropriately and with authenticity, whether the actual rules or regulations specify a strict dress code or not.

All else being equal and in the ultimate analysis, what you choose to buy for your equestrian supplies and clothing will often make the difference between winning and coming second in a given competition. Even if you don't intend to take part in a competition as such, your level of enjoyment during your weekend of horse riding activities will be determined by your preparation and presentation. Today's equestrian equipment and clothing is manufactured according to the best standards and tested by riders before you. It only makes sense to choose the products that have been purpose designed and have been tested for the job in hand.
