Ephedra Weight Loss Pills

By:

The popularity of ephedra diet pills is still amazing. Millions of people a year continue to scour the internet specifically looking for certain products that have not been available for years. If you are trying to find the old brand names that were so incredibly popular you will not find them selling any diet pills that contain ephedra. They have moved on and you cannot get Xenadrine RFA-1, or Hydroxycut with ephedra, Stacker with ephedra and Metabolife have gone out of business due to the high number of lawsuits that forced the company into bankruptcy.

Diet pills with ephedra are made with Ma Huang an herb mainly grown in India and China. Used medicinally for thousands of years then it became known in the US for the powerful ability to promote weight loss when combined with caffeine. It was also extremely cheap along with being effective making consumers very happy.

Ephedra was never used for weight loss until it was discovered less than 20 years ago to "trick" the body into burning fat for fuel. This article is too short for the details of how this works but it has to do with chemical messengers within the ephedra plant. These fat burning messengers come from ephedrine and pseudoephedrine found in the ephedra plant. The strongest and most powerful of these is ephedrine. When used in high enough concentration over a long enough period of time the body will burn off more fat for fuel than it normally does.

Ephedra weight loss pills were cheap and effective and hardly dangerous especially when compared to prescription drugs. Obesity rates are climbing rapidly despite the "wonder" drugs that keep coming out. Soon, within a few years it is thought that 75% of all the people in the US will be overweight. Ephedra helped a lot of people keep weight off so that they didn't have to become one of the 300,000 people that die each year due to obesity related health problems.

Products like aspirin (called NSAIDs or Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) killed an estimated 7,600 people and hospitalized 76,000 more in the US in a single year. How about the fact that in a single year (2000) there were over 100,000 deaths from the proper use of prescription drugs. Compare that information to the fact that ephedra and ephedrine drugs may have possibly contributed to a grand total of 84 deaths during a 10 year period. Now the ephedra ban when compared to those numbers makes no logical sense at all.

In response to a stressful situation, your sympathetic nervous system gears up to either go to battle or escape a situation immediately. Heart rate and blood pressure increase to prepare the body for action. Ephedrine mimics the effects of epinephrine and norepinephtine, the two naturally occurring chemicals in the body primarily responsible for the fight or flight syndrome. When you take ephedrine, then, you're basically stimulating your sympathetic nervous system, causing: a faster heartbeat, increased force of heart contraction and increased blood flow, increased blood pressure, increased thermogenesis (the body's heat production, generated by calorie-burning) increased blood flow to the brain slightly increased basal metabolic rate.

When the FDA was going about their business of protecting the public from dangerous drugs, they already new they were going to get rid of ephedra. They did this by manipulating information that made ephedra look like an herb that would kill thousands of people a year. But the truth remains, there was an agenda in place and all they had to do was go through the motions.
