Environmentally Safe Way To Clean Sewer Pipes

By:

While there are several different ways to clear a blocked drain, the most effective and the most environmentally safe method is high pressure jetting. This method is environmentally friendly because it uses only high pressure water to clear blockages, instead of other commercial methods, which use chemicals that will drain into rivers, lakes, and oceans and ultimately harm wildlife and the clean water sources. High pressure jetting is also a more effective method than other commercial and conventional ones because it can clear out years of accumulation of grease, sludge, and soap that may have become caked onto the walls of the pipes.

High pressure jetting uses pumps and flexible hoses that are state of the art to propel water under varying levels of high pressure into the sewer line. The technician can change the pressure levels depending on the age and durability of the pipes, so it is safe for various types of pipes, even old ones. The high pressure water cuts all the way through to the walls of the pipe lines using a special nozzle on the end of the heavy-duty hose, which can direct the water forward or backward in various directions, thereby covering the entire inside surface of the pipes. The nozzle works by forcing water through small opening located in the nozzle at high speeds, creating high pressure. The high pressure jetting combined with high water volume is certain to work better at clearing out built-up blockages than conventional methods.

The conventional method, which uses a cable, is effective at clearing out a blockage, however it will not protect against future blockages because the cable method cannot clear out grease, sludge, and soap that may be caked onto the insides of the walls of the pipe lines. The cable only breaks an opening through the center, without cleaning off built up debris on the walls. High water pressure can remove blockages and roots, while high water volume can clear out sand, sludge, and debris from wider pipe lines. Cable machines can cut through solid blockages like roots, but they cannot clear soft blockages such as the ones that will cake the walls of the pipes. Cable machines only cut through blockages and do not push them out of the pipes completely the same way high pressure water jetting can push unwanted build up out of pipe lines, therefore preventing the pipe lines from becoming blocked again so soon.
