Enter The Oasis Of Dusit Princess Koh Chang

Dusit Princess Koh Chang is an oasis within an oasis. Average temperatures are around 34 C to 22 C from about April to January respectively. Koh Chang is about 320 kilometers east of Bangkok in the province of Trat. Population is very sparse at approximately 35 inhabitants per sq. km. There is an airport available in Trat, making it convenient for even the most fastidious traveler. The hotel is a sleek and ecologically friendly design. Unknown Island: Koh Changs Remarkable History
In early history, King Taksin used this area as a staging point to battle against Burmese troops. More recently, during WWII, this was the site of a little known battle between the Thai and French military forces. On January 17th 1941, the Vichy French residing in Indochina clashed with Thailand over territories annexed by France. Thailand lost two destroyers and a defense ship, which were sunk directly off the beach at south-eastern point of Koh Chang. The beach here has a shrine to the fallen. It is about 15 kilometers south of Dan-Kao-Pier close to Salak Petch Bay. Laem Ngop has the Naval Battle Monument commemorating this event along with a museum. Thailand lost this battle, yet it has never been colonized in modern history.
Other amazing sights to see are the Bang Bao Fishing Village with stilt houses interconnected with bridges constructed directly above the sea. Waterfakks are plentiful on this island. Tan Mayom Waterfall, Klong Nonsi Waterfall, and Klong Plu Waterfall are some well-known ones to visit. Koh Chang is part of Trat province, which holds festivals including the Sweet Rakum and Red Rudy Day. This festival is held during late May and early June and travelers can indulge in an indigenous, sweet, acidic palm fruit. Trat Independence Day is when this area was liberated from France on March 23rd 1906.
White Sand Beach is one of the longest beaches in on Koh Chang. Klong Prao and Kai Bao Beaches are set against steep hillsides, but swimming is allowed and it provides a variety of landscapes to explore. As recently as 2000, electricity and telephone landlines have only been available on Koh Chang. This makes the island a haven for the nature lovers, offering unspoiled mountains, streams, and rainforests in the interior. The beaches are quiet and clean with rich flora and marine life. Divers will appreciate the pristine coral reefs and bird watchers can indulge themselves in discovering new species around the island.
