The Melbourne Chess Club once again is organizing the 2012 Junior Australian Chess Championships which will be held in Clifton Hill an inner Melbourne suburb at the Spensley St Primary School on Saturday 14th January through to Sunday 22nd January. The location is ideal as the competition is close to the Merri Creek Trails and the Yarra River and there is ample parking. Commemorative chess sets will be used for the chess championships, and after the competition these chess sets will be up for sale. For more details see the championship rules and schedules as all championships will be nine rounds with a family friendly atmosphere.

For those of you wanting up to date information with regards to the Junior Chess championships hosted by the ACF and CV then you can subscribe to the JCL Australian competitions 2012 bulletin. There is ample city accommodation as the venue is very close to the inner city station and special rates have already been negotiated. The games will be held semi live on the Tornelo system so that parents and grandparents wont miss the championships. As the chess games are being played there will be students walking around recording the top boards on iPads. Before, after and during the competition many of the students get coaching in order to help them improve their chess skill from some of the top chess coaches. For those that have not already booked a coach, then read the competition article for a list coaches during the chess competition. Coaches can only assist before and after a game, and when playing you are on your own. Well known coaches such as Jamie Kenmure and Grant Szuveges will be attending the championships.

The kids participating will be put on free weekly training, which unfortunately are already filled, however, for those that missed the lessons these are being posted on the website. Free training is also being provided for the chess kids during other tournaments. There has been a considerable amount of support through in-kind sponsorships and financial businesses. The 2012 Chess Championship competition is not only offering fabulous prizes, but also guarantees a great championship with more participants playing than 2011. Enter now and book your place as not to be disappointed.
