Enjoying The Family Vacation Again

Vacation rentals offer travels a great getaway for the whole family at prices that are better than paying for multiple hotel rooms. For families traveling together vacation rentals are like having a home away from home.

Most rental properties are condominiums or houses that have all the amenities of home. Complete kitchens for preparing meals multiple bedrooms and large open living rooms allow a family to spread out and relax in a comfortable setting rather than having suitcases piled up in hotel rooms that can be cramped when the whole family comes together. Vacation rentals can be found in every region of the country lending to a variety of activities that can be enjoyed together as a family.

When I was a teenager, a few years ago, my parents rented a vacation home in the mountains near our home. Even though it was only a thirty minute drive up the canyon to the vacation rental it seemed like we were further away. Getting out of the city and into the mountain air was revitalizing. The cabin we had rented was close to trails and a lake where we could fish, canoe and swim.

The rental was large enough to house my three other siblings along with my parents and my self. We stayed in the cabin for a week without telephones or interruptions from the world in the valley below. Having packed our bikes we were able to ride the trails and go hiking to explore the countryside. An open pit adjacent to the vacation renal provided a fireplace where we roasted marshmallows and made smores each night.

I can recall dropping a few of the overly cooked marshmallows into the fire and seeing a chipmunk the next morning with a glob of the white sticky mush stuck to its behind. Apparently after the fire had cooled the curious creature had moved in for a taste of the sugary treat.

After spending a week in the mountains my father felt rested and refreshed, his favorite part of the vacation was finding an open field of wildflowers to rest in and absorb the quiet beauty of nature.

The vacation rental proved to be a value as vacations go. By bringing in our own food the family was able to always find something to eat and save money on going out to restaurants and fast food joints. The whole family fit comfortably into the vacation rental cabin without feeling crowded or cramped and everyone enjoyed the privacy of having a place we could go to get away from the world.
