Enjoying Childhood Memories And Fun Times With Our Kids Picnic Tables

As I gaze at the wooden kids picnic tables we have in the back yard, a few wonderfull childhood memories establish to rise. Memories about a kids picnic table? Believe me, I'm serious!

While we were real little, the wood kids picnic table was a excellent space to eat our peanut and butter sandwiches, watermelon, corn on the cob and all sorts of messy summer foods that we all loved. The wood childrens picnic table was for much more than eating on!

The table was also a leaping off point as we loved to put on capes and pretend we were super heroes. Back then Batman and Superman were all the rage so we defended the neighborhood from the likes of the Joker, the Riddler, Lex Luthor, Braniac and the other supervillians who may dare cross the threshold of the area we so loyally protected.

When we weren't being superheroes, we'd get the biggest umbrella we could find and see if we could jump off the table and think like we were airborne. Of course, imagination had a lot to do with the notion that we were slowing down our three foot jump from the bench.

Of course, the picnic table was the storage place for the big container jam-packed of water balloons and additional water toys where we kept the cache of wet provisions to fling at the girls as soon as they came into the backyard.

At night, the wood kids picnic table served as the roof of the citadel where we could enter with our flashlights and make believe the terrors of the night that were just ouddoors. Dad had an old canvas tarp that he threw over the top to make it a wonderfull tent for our sleep-outs. We could shine our flashlights on the exterior to notice who's flashlight beam was the brightest and may generate the longest beam. Our puppy totally loved it as well and it appeared she always had a way of producing confusion and laughter at any time she worked her way in.

When Mother came out with a tray full of lemonade and cookies and set them on table we, of course, were swiftly seated and all set to enjoy the cool food and drink. That was occasionally a pre-payment for our pre-dinnertime chores, which often included husking the corn-on-the-cob.

Most times, we ate supper indoors but often ended up the meal in the backyard consuming watermelon or some other sloppy summer time dessert.

Come winter time, we woudl stand the table up on it's side and use it as a barrier to take cover behind through snowball fights or a place to put the hot chocolate.

Now, it's time for you to step into your imagination machine and go way back to your childhood. Close your eyes and see the little boy or girl running or laughing and having so much fun with something as simple as a simple wood kids picnic table! I do not know about you but for me, it can be a lot of pleasure to look back and relive the fun times and laughter.

With all the day to day stresses, cell phones and being connected with the world every minute of the day or night, it's relaxing and de-stressing to go back to the special time of your childhood.
