Nestled amidst the mountains of Sri Lankas central highlands, the idyllic town of Nuwara Eliya is known as one of the islands most picturesque retreats. Those heading to the area can also make time to visit Galway's Land Bird Sanctuary which is within easy reach of Gregory Lake. An ideal place to visit for nature lovers and bird watching enthusiasts, this wildlife sanctuary was declared a national park in 2006. One of the best bird watching spots in the island, the park is home to around 30 native bird species and 20 migrant species that are considered rare.
