Nestled amidst the mountains of Sri Lankas central highlands, the idyllic town of Nuwara Eliya is known as one of the islands most picturesque retreats. Also referred to as Little England for its English style buildings and cool climate, this scenic town is famous for being at the heart of the islands famous tea industry and the surrounding hills are carpeted in lush tea bushes in different shades of green. A popular holiday destination amongst tourists and locals alike, the town offers the perfect backdrop in which to explore the breathtaking scenery and indulge in a variety of outdoor activities that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
One of the most popular attractions here is Gregory Lake Nuwara Eliya. Situated around one kilometre from the main town, this charming lake area was constructed in 1873 under the administration of Sir William Gregory who was the British Governor at the time.
