Enjoy The Pleasurable, Lucrative Hobby Of Treasure Hunting

Wouldn't it be great to find a pleasurable pass time that would not only offer some leisurely time in the outdoors, but can also lead to some extra income through the location of valuable trinkets? Searching for treasure can allow you to do just that! With a little spare time to spend at a park or on the beach, and the purchase of a modestly priced previously owned or new metal detector, you can soon find yourself hooked on hunting for all types of exciting objects including jewelry, coins that have been covered for years, relics, and possibly meteorites that have found their way to earth. Popular locations where large groups congregate and often leave items behind, or historical landmarks, will provide an excellent site for exploration.

You will find similarities among the operation of the many metal detectors, although there are metal detectors specifically manufactured to serve specific hunting situations. All detectors are equipped with a coil or search head that picks up the magnetic fields of buried items through an electromagnetic signal that is sent into the ground, returning an electric current if there is a metallic item beneath the surface. Once a metallic object has been discovered, the control box of the detector takes over, as the heightened signal frequency makes it's way there, and the control box then evaluates the signal, deciding how deep the item is buried underground. If you are a treasure hunter who only wants to search for items with gold content, you will appreciate the feature that allows certain detectors to discern what kind of metal is contained in the objects found.

The size of the ground area that you are able to cover with each sweep of your metal detector, will depend on the width of your detector's search head. In order to efficiently conduct a search, you should familiarize yourself with the amount of space your detector can cover, so you aren't doubling over already searched areas, or missing space between passes. You can get a good idea of how close your metal detector needs to be to an object to detect it by dropping a coin and observing at what proximity your metal detector begins to obtain a signal, as you pass the detector across the area. You will find that as you gain experience with your metal detector, you will become more skilled at conducting the most productive search.

By deciding what you would like to hunt for in advance, you can determine the best places to do your treasure hunting. Many hunters whose primary objective is the collection of historical relics and coins, find great success by visiting a variety of locations where historical battles have taken place. Schools and churches that have stood for many years in areas that are less populated, are excellent sources for jewelry and coin finds. Still other hunters are more interested in the larger financial rewards that come with finding rings, watches, necklaces, and coins of today. In this case, you will want to search in locations where large groups of people are known to get together. Area beaches are one such location, as are locations where county and state fairs are often held.

Spending a leisurely afternoon searching for valuables with your metal detector, is a soothing, pleasurable activity, that has the added advantage of being profitable as well. What a great way for a family to spend a day! Your kids will benefit from the time with you and the chance to learn interesting tidbits about the objects that you find.
