Milford Sound is a deep stretch of water that meanders between two steep rock faces flanking it on either side. Even if you plan to take the Milford road, it has become much more accessible with a lot of places where one can stop and rest. Some adventurous souls prefer to walk in this area. It is important to stick to well-marked and properly paved walkways. Meandering into the forests or getting too far away from the road is not a good idea as you could end up getting lost.
