Engineer Gulfport-tools Of Today Following Tradition

By:

Only recently have the tools for land surveying advanced beyond a simple tape measure and level, bringing with them multiple options for a land survey engineer in Gulfport, or anywhere in the country. Technology has allowed the surveyor many more options when it comes to surveying, though the more advanced tools are still portable and easy to move from one site to the next. The basic tools needed for land surveying haven't changed much over the years: they have just evolved.

In a way, these tools are just better versions of the tools that have been around for years. Most land surveyors still consider a tape measure and level essential tools, also including a theodolite, a tripod to set it up on, and the triangulation that functions with the theodolite. A computerized attachment that can be added to the theodolite is the total station.

Having the proper tools are necessary for any job, even more so in the job of land surveying. The basics, such as a tape measure and level, are available almost anywhere, but specialty stores and online sites are necessary when it comes to purchasing the heavier equipment, such as the surveying tripod. The cheapest tripod that a surveyor can go with is the aluminum tripod. Aluminum has its advantages in that it is very lightweight and easy to move from place to place and most are available for around or under a hundred dollars.

Another option to go with is the fiberglass tripod, which is also lightweight like the aluminum but a little more durable. Most fiberglass tripods are capable and well-designed instruments, combining many of the features from the other styles of tripod, such as the lightness of the aluminum plus moisture and element resistance.

A critical tool that a land survey engineer also must possess is the theodolite. The theodolite affixes to the top of the tripod and used to measure the horizontal and vertical angles. The theodolite is invaluable to the land survey engineer because it can be used to measure ground that may be physically inaccessible. As with the tripods, theodolites are available in many kinds of styles and features.

The majority of these devices are state of the art pieces of technology with LCD screens, energy consumption reducers, easy to use buttons, and many more capabilities. Great advancements in modern land surveying also brought to us the total station; this tool is used to take measurements as a combination of a theodolite and an electronic distance meter.

As with other surveying equipment, the total station can be found in multiple styles and at many different costs, though they will usually run higher than their traditional counterparts will. These durable units are often equipped with an easy to read screen.

The Reflectorless Total Station is the most expensive and more advanced total station available at the moment. It does high accuracy measurements, especially in locations that are difficult to reach for an engineer in Gulfport and even comes with the advanced Bluetooth technology, which makes communication even easier. These models are the perfect tools to get any job, no matter how difficult, done right.
