Employee Recognition And How It Helps Staff Moral

We spend around 40 hours a week at work - more if we do overtime. Add to this several extra hours travelling to and from our work places and we find that the realm of work takes up a large portion of our lives. As part of a team, we all work towards achieving certain objectives - and one of the ways companies and corporations ensure these are met is by employee recognition.

The modern working environment differs from many decades ago as the pressure and emphasis is now on working relationships, interpersonal persuasion and the movements of data. Many years ago, when industrialised nations were in at the peak of their manufacturing output, the working day consisted largely of physical pressure - where the body was pushed to the limit. It is safe to say that being paid enough money to feed, clothe and shelter ones family was the limit of employee recognition.

These days the concept of employee recognition has become far more important, and is utilised across the globe in order to motivate staff to do their very best. In years gone by there was more of a 'stick system' - whereby having no money to buy the necessities of life was the main threat. Now, a worker who is given employee recognition tends to be a happy one - as many studies have shown.

Rather than work being a purely cash focussed activity, with an employee recognition system in place, it becomes a more emotional - and even fun-associated business. Staff members have the opportunity to bond socially in more relaxed surroundings - if the employee recognition plan involves those sorts of activities. If a company is really well funded - or indeed a team does a particularly good job - some sort of extra special day out or trip is going to be an appropriate reward.

Sometimes the monthly salary deposit becomes a formality - and a more memorable reward really helps to emphasise that a company or boss appreciates the work that staff do. There are a multitude of ways that employee recognition can take place. It might be a day playing mini golf, or a day in a health spa, or even something as off the wall and adrenaline pumping as sky diving.

Of course, it is a good idea to decide upon a reward system that would suit the entire team. Perhaps some members of a team are a little older, or not so healthy as younger members. In this case it is a good idea to come up with a choice of activities, which are unified by perhaps a high quality restaurant meal or some sort of party. The list of ways to demonstrate employee recognition are literally endless.
