Emotional Infidelity - The Long Lasting Mental Trauma

By:

The event of emotional infidelity has grown dramatically. This act can be referred to as a social crime because it breaks a social law! What law is spoken of in this context? It is the law that is not written anywhere and neither are there any laws for punishing the person committing the crime. The law states that, two people in a relationship will share everything, which includes sharing of problems and happiness, sharing the fantasies and secrets, sharing emotions and thoughts and also, they will be sharing physical intimacy. However, it can happen that your partner may find a new sanctuary where he or she finds peace and feels more comfortable in that person's arm rather than being with you! It is not just your story! Thousands and thousands of people all around the world are affected by this termite! Some people manage to pull things back and restore back the happiness in their life while some others fail to get back their partners and the end result that comes out is that their relationships break!

How does it start?
The question is, how does emotional infidelity start? It starts with friendship. Your partner may make a new friend with whom he or she feels more comfortable. Your partner may opine that the person is more comforting because he or she provides a personal space. Your partner can just start sharing the feeling and gradually start sharing the most intimate emotions and thoughts that your partner was supposed to share with you. This generally becomes by-directional over time and eventually both your partner and the other person feel the closeness which has no social name. They no longer remain "just friends" but grow more than that but fail to give the relation a name!
What are the effects?
When your partner gets involved into a nameless emotional attachment, you will find that your closeness with your partner is slowly fading away. Even though you want to get close to your partner emotionally or physically, your partner comes up with some reason or cause to avoid you. You will also find that your partner is physically present with you but his/her thoughts are no longer belong to you as they used to be. Additionally you will also find that you partner is prone to picking up fights on petty issues which never had been a problem before or maybe he will become ultra-critical to your appearance and more.

The mental trauma
Once a person becomes a victim of emotional infidelity, he or she will be traumatized mentally which will in turn affect the quality of living. Health problems can arise which may require medical attention. This mental trauma is generally long lasting and the affected person finds it difficult to revert back to the mainstream society and gain a quality lifestyle. This happens because the trust and the faith of the victim of emotional infidelity is broken and getting back to a normal life becomes extremely difficult.
