Email Marketing Today For Beginners

By:

Things have changed a lot since the start of the Internet and the onset of Email. Back then things were basic and simple and mostly when you got in a piece of mail it was something from someone that you knew so you could be sure that it contained something worth viewing. Today that is not really the case. In my personal email for example I get slightly over 1000 pieces of mail per day. I checked out the stats before I wrote this so for mine at least they are accurate. Of that 1000 pieces of mail almost 950 were what I would consider junk or unsolicited emails. Things trying to market something to me in hopes I will click through and visit a site and make a purchase. A whole 10 of the emails were from something that I actually asked for information about and the remaining 40 were actually person from people that I know in some way shape or form.

If you are doing the math then 4 percent of what I got was personal email, 1 percent was for tings that I really wanted and a full 95 percent of it was pure crap. Now I don't know about you but I do not have time to dig through 950 pieces of junk. Even if there were something spectacular in there that would interest me I would never get to it because I never get past the heading.

When I am scanning through my emails to see what is good and what is trash I look first at the senders address and then at the subject heading. If either the address or the subject is a possible good thing I will keep it and review them at the end after I can the trash. Out of that 1000 I ended up with about a hundred that I reviewed by opening them and scanning the body of the text. So for me about 10 percent of what I get actually gets the chance to impress me.

I am not overly stuck up nor am I being mean. I am just busy and if I don't know you and you can't grab my attention in a way that makes me pause I am not going to waste my time because it shows me that you didn't care enough about what you are sending to make it the best that you could make it and if you can't do at least that much for me I am frankly not going to bother.

I happen to know a lot of people in my own little circle of friends and most of them are the same way. Believe it or not with my wife it is even harder to get into her email. She gets about 2500 pieces a day and only reads / opens or investigates about 25 pieces in total.

The moral here is to grab your viewer quick and hard because you may not get a second chance.
