Email Marketing Campaigns Are Part Art And Part Science.

You'll find that learning email marketing can be tricky. It's part art and part science to get it right.

Generally email marketing is part art and part science. The art part is the thinking that goes into planning your mailing and you should spend some time doing this planning step before you ever send your emails out.

Review these five principles and ensure you are incorporating them into your email marketing campaigns and you'll soon see better results in your statistics and sales.

1. Write a powerful subject line. You might think about your reader who is busy, gets lots of emails and might be working on something else when your email arrives. If you make them guess what your email is about there is a pretty good chance they will just move on to the next message.

2. Make your message as simple to understand as possible. Don't try to write a PhD level thesis. Write shorter emails that have a clear message or point and your readers will not drift away before the end. They're busy too and if you save them time, they will appreciate you and your writing style.

3. Don't use a complicated template. If you are going to use an email template make it as simple as possible. One column, minimal images and borders, and never use anything other than a white background. Studies have shown it's harder for people to read anything other than black text on a white background.

4. Have one action you want them to take. Don't make the mistake of asking them to 1. visit your blog 2. sign up for an event 3. buy something and expect them to choose. Decisions don't come easily for many so asking for a single action will make it easier for your reader to do what you'd like them to.

5. Make your email personal. The more your email looks like it came from me to you, the more likely the reader will feel a stronger connection and the better your result. Just don't overdo it.

By doing these five simple things you'll soon find that the emails you send will get opened, your readers will click on your links and you will build a stronger relationship with your readers. It will have an impact. Through testing I have been able to improve email results up to ten times more. That could me a lot more sales.
