Email Marketing: How To Get Your Emails Open

By:

Does your email open doors?

The subject line or title of your email is crucial. It will determine whether or not your email will be opened. The success rate of your email marketing campaign will depend on whether your opt-in prospect is going to read your message you have sent them in your follow-up of your list.

You have taken the first tenderest first step of getting your visitors to your website or squeeze page to opt-in to your list. Now it is important that you dont falter and wasted your effort to get the job donethat is to sell to your prospects.

You can try to sell on your email but it is better to provide them a link to your sales page to do your selling there. Readers attention span is short and people do not like to read voluminous email. Provide them the reason for them to click on your link.

But how do you provide the incentive and purpose for your reader to take a further step?

The words you chose for your title or subject line will determine how effective your email campaign will be. Just as people will see the first screen page of a website, it is utmost important that the first impression or your subject tag is attractive enough to gain the attention of your email recipients. Why leave your best part of your offer in the body or conclusion of your email message where it will probably not be read? Put it upfront in the subject line, especially the first three words:

This is your chance to learn from the expert

Choose words that arouse your recipients' curiosity but the same words would be considered spam if they are viewed in a different light:

This is your chance to make tons of money

Contrary to what all internet marketer will do, there are certain words which are suitable to draw in your audience in your website is considered unsuitable in your emails subject line. Words like make money, buy, free, Sale, Discount, Special.

As you see from the above example, ellipsis points have been used at the end of the subject line. This effect creates a sense of incompleteness which urges the reader to open your mail as he will be very impatient to find out whats in for him. Incomplete thoughts create brain itch and it is something that people cannot resist finding out whats it theyll missing if they do not find it out now.

Chances are great that your recipients will open your email as they know theyve given you the permission to send them more information if they could remember they have opt-in before, but most will not remember. Your job is to send them an email on a regular basis to keep them in your radar or else everything youve done is wasted effort.

Not a ploy to get them to open your mail though, but youve to give yourself a fighting chance to engage with your prospects. If your recipients are highly targeted opt-in audience, they will know that the email is from you and there is neither surprise nor a need to satisfy their curiosity.
