Elusive Beauty

By:

It's what each girl needs, a minimum of on some level - beauty. Sadly beauty itself is elusive, subjective, and what's more, sometimes unhealthy. What do I mean? Let's start with elusive. The very definition of the word elusive is, well, elusive. Dictionary.com defines the word elusive as the following:

Pronunciation Key adjective 1. eluding clear perception or complete mental grasp; hard to express or outline: an elusive concept. 2. cleverly or skillfully evasive: a fish too elusive to catch.

I notably just like the second half of the definition which uses the example: a fish too elusive to catch. That, after all, is very a lot of the identical as beauty. Just when one thinks that they're one step removed from being beautiful, they find another area of themselves in would like of "beautification." The classic example, after all, is the lady who becomes smitten by plastic surgery- first it's the eye's that require lifting, however once this is often done she finds another half of her that needs "fixing." Maybe the lips now seem too thin, the chin is sagging, or there are those breasts that do the same.

While I have no downside with cosmetic surgery in and of itself, I do believe that one must bear a mental analysis of self so as to determine whether or not this particular procedure is going to own the specified affect, both mentally and physically. The bottom line is that some girl do indeed feel higher regarding themselves when a cosmetic procedure is done, whereas some are part of the "never glad" cluster, a cluster that actually has issues on top of and beyond those cosmetic.

Currently, on to "subjective." What is the previous adage? One man's trash is another man's treasure- or in our case "lady's." In different words, every girl's idea of what is beautiful, or how she might look additional thus, is an extremely subjective and personal thing. Once all, we've all seen a one who completely defies our definition of gorgeous and, well, tastefulness, right? I mean, TLC's show "What Not to Wear" could be a excellent example. Every girl who goes on the show has been voted on by "friends" who simply believe she will not conform to the societal standards of what is okay and what's not. And I do have to say, there are some women who appear on the show who I, for all my very own subjectivities, cannot believe would match ANY persons idea of taste. However, reminding myself of another adage "beauty is during the eye..." I am humbled by the awareness of my very own highly subjective perspectives on beauty.

So, what's left? Oh, that is right - "unhealthy." Again, I'll quote a definition to assist clarify from Dictionary.com, since the Oxford English Dictionary is not available on-line:

un?health?y [uhn-hel-thee] adjective
1. not in an exceedingly state of fine or traditional health; in an unsound, weak, or morbid condition. 2. not conducive to sensible health; unhealthful: Night air was formerly thought of unhealthy. 3. dangerous; risky.

Many aspects of the concept of beauty are, in agreement with the aforementioned definitions, unhealthy. Few would argue that cosmetic surgeries will be risky, that lots of cosmetics out there are "not conducive to good health" and that many of the worst offenders, weight-loss products, are "dangerous." Additionally, America's fascination with being skinny, and sometimes critically therefore, typically ends up in anorexia and bulimia which is actually not a condition that several would consider a "state of fine or traditional health."
In conclusion whereas beauty is, as I think I've outlined higher than elusive, subjective, and sometimes unhealthy, individuals worldwide are taking steps to form positive changes to have an effect on the world's conceptions of, healthfulness of, and preoccupation with, beauty. Some examples embrace Dove's Campaign for Real Beauty, corporations producing dolls with normal characteristics (and measurements) and those who offer additional natural and healthy ways to reinforce one's own idea of beauty. Natural beauty decisions have, in fact, gained an extreme amount of recognition in recent years. For instance Burt's Bees has, for a while currently, been giving all-natural cosmetic and personal care options, organic clothing is currently even being sold at retailers galore, and cosmetic corporations like Erth Minerals have begun producing mineral makeup that's made from just crushed minerals and so while not unhealthy chemicals and preservatives. In brief, the long run of a lot of healthful beauty and for increased options for satisfying our eternal, elusive, and subjective quest for beauty will still grow within the years to come.
