Electrical Supplies Needed For London 2012 Olympics

By:

The London Olympic games are fast approaching, and the British capital is readying itself for what is set to be a memorable games. The huge task of building the necessary facilities requires many materials, not least of which are electrical supplies.

The main Olympic stadium is currently under construction. As London has many sporting venues, which include Wembley Stadium, Arsenal's Emirates Stadium, Twickenham, The Oval, Lords, Stamford Bridge and many others - the Olympic Stadium is a fairly modest affair. It is certainly substantially smaller and cheaper than the Beijing's impressive Birds Nest. Nevertheless it is a striking design and one which requires supplies of various kinds.

The Olympic stadium will be fitted with a giant screen and of course a great deal of industrial floodlights. All these, and many other items require electrical supplies of the highest quality. All the public facilities and indeed the sports person's facilities require various electrical supplies.

Another major part of the London Olympic building site is the Olympic Village. This is of course where all the various competing nation's teams live and prepare for the games. All these facilities require electrical supplies which ensure there is lighting, heating and hot water and indeed general electricity access for all participants.

All the transport hubs require electrical supplies, in order that they can provide lighting and heating in the waiting rooms and terminals. Public announcement systems, visual display units detailing arriving and departing trains and buses - all need to be installed.

Many millions of people will be watching the Olympics of 2012, and it is important the British manage to put on an impressive games - and ensure that all building work is completed on schedule. In times of economic hardship it is understandable that the British government have a limited budget, and so are looking for a high value Olympic Games. The UK budget is small compared to the Beijing Olympics - currently the London Games have a budget of 10 billion pounds, whereas the vast nation of China had one reportedly twice the size.

As such, getting good quality and low priced bulk electrical supplies is of high importance to the Olympic Committee. London's budget will largely go on labour - which in the UK is expensive to procure. The Chinese had substantially more cost effective labour. This makes it even more important for the British to ensure their supplies offer value for money.

Luckily, many of the venues required for the Olympics are already standing in London and around the nation. Wembley Stadium will be used for football, Lord's Cricket ground will be used for archery, Wimbledon All England Tennis Club will be used for tennis - and the O2 Arena will be hosting both gymnastics and basketball. The stage is steadily being built for what everyone hopes will be a truly memorable Olympic Games - as long as all the supplies get there!
