Electric Guitars Will Never Die

By:

You would think that people would have a little bit more faith in electric guitars and their ability to make spell-binding music. For some reason, every time there is a new wave of technological progress, many people seem to think that it will be the end of the mainstay of rock n roll and that the landscape of musical progress will be changed forever. When synthesisers and electronic keyboards came along, many people felt that guitars would be thrown out of the equation, but if anything, more and more people have developed their guitar playing as they realise that some sounds just can't be replicated in other ways.

In recent times, software packages have revolutionised the industry and made it much easier for people to make music. The fact that guitar sounds can be achieved on a computer these days has once again brought up the topic of people being able to make the sound of a guitar without the need for electric guitars. This will be of benefit to bedroom producers who can't afford to have every instrument but want a great deal of versatility about their music production, but for the vast majority of people, there isn't going to be any change to the way that they make music.

In fact, with these software packages allowing musicians to plug their electric guitars or other instruments directly into the computer or tablet and play directly to the software, there is a huge argument to be made for increased interaction between traditional instruments and modern technology. Not everyone is going to want to record a song or album at their computer desk, but for people on a budget, it is definitely something that may be worth considering. The quality of these recordings is improving all the time and there is no reason to dismiss them as being inferior recording options.

These new software packages may recreate the sounds of electric guitars but they still lack in the spirit and energy that is created by a guitarist. Even when playing in a room by themselves, it is easy for a guitarist to imagine the vibe of other musicians or even a large crowd, which can inspire their style of play. This may be more difficult to achieve when sitting in front of a laptop or tablet, making the finished version not as emotive or inspirational as it could be.

There is no need to completely blank new advances in technology as they can provide benefits and advances when making music but equally, there is no need to dismiss the traditional methods of making music. electric guitars have stood the test of time in the music industry for a very good reason, because they are brilliant at making music come alive. It is the spirit of the instrument as much as anything else which sees so many people take to it so naturally. There will always be new contenders when it comes to the methods of making music but these guitars are always going to stay at the top of the pile for music lovers around the world.
