Electric Guitars For An Amazing Diversity Of Sounds

By:

The power that electric guitars give their owners and players is about a lot more than just being linked up to an amplifier. A guitar is one of the most exciting instruments around and if you can play and master the instrument, there is a great sense of achievement and pride to be taken from this. Not only that, but the guitar appears to be the one instrument that ensures an audience will be completely under your control as you play. There are many great instruments to choose from, but when it comes to the electric guitar, it is truly in a class of its own.

You only have to think of some of the greatest electric guitar players there have been throughout the years. Ever since rock and roll was born and guitars were plugged in, electric guitars have been at the centre of music and this means that the men and women who have played the instrument have been at the centre of music. There can sometimes to be a tendency to think of the electric guitar as being a predominantly male club, but surely no one needs to look too far to find some hugely talented female guitarists? The guitar is an instrument that isnt bound by gender, nor is it bound by class or background. Anyone can learn to play and enjoy the guitar.

Quite simply, electric guitars are the instrument that brings people together. In the 1960s, you had John Lennon and Keith Richards, who came from a working class background epitomizing guitar playing. Equally, boys like Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton came from different backgrounds, but when you put a guitar in their hands, there was no real difference between them. All of these guitarists were hugely influential in their own right and the waves of guitarists that have followed on from them owe a huge debt of gratitude.

You will also find that electric guitars are not bound by a genre; they can be used by any band looking to find their own sound. A guitarist in a heavy metal band will play differently from a guitarist in an indie band, but both will plug their guitar into an amp and play. For all that, music is still limited by the amount of notes and chords that are available; there is still an almost infinite number of ways that the instrument can be played and the sounds that can be created from it. Plugging in to an amp or even through a number of effects pedals only adds to the variety of sounds that are available to a guitarist.

The technological advances in the music industry, even with respect to instruments, have been vast in recent times. Over time, there may be some differences in the way that electric guitars are made or used on stage but when you have an instrument that is so classic in its shape and sound, it is very unlikely that any dramatic changes will come along to knock it off its perch any time soon.
