When global recession had hit the world market, many industries around the world were heavily affected. One of those is the call center industry of the Philippines. Although the industry today had now been recognized as one of the largest and most successful call center industries in the world market, the industry was known to have been one of the many large industries in the Philippines that was heavily affected by global recession.

Effects of the Global Recession in the Call Center Industry
Part of what made the industry successful in the world market is because of the number of foreign investors that visits the Philippines to

Other than that, many of these foreign investors had also chosen to start their own call center business in the Philippines to take advantage on the countrys lesser production and labor costs compared to other sources of call center services in Asia such as in India.

When global recession had hit the market, the call center industry of the Philippines was one of the many industries in the Philippines that were heavily affected by this. Part of the reason why is because of the many foreign investors and call center businesses in the Philippines that pulled out their investments in the Philippines due to the increasing number of bankruptcy in their own country.

And due to the fact that most of the revenues are coming from the US, which was heavily affected by global recession, the industry was quickly affected by global recession. And because of the many call center companies and agencies closing down, the number of unemployed Filipinos had grown massively.

Changes during Global Recession
Although the industry was heavily affected by global recession, there were still a number of call center companies in the Philippines that still stood amidst all the chaos that global recession had brought.

However, due to the sheer amount of applicants that tries to work as a call center agent again, many call center companies and agencies had changed their recruitment processes to take only those who are skilled enough for the job. Many of those changes include call center managers requiring graduates who are extremely fluent in English, even though their services would only involve simple call center services such as
Order taking service, as well as (for technical accounts) above par IT skills.
