Effective Ways To Prevent Eye Strain

Computers, TVs, video games, tablet PCs, and many others. These are just some of the technologically advanced equipment we have today that we use almost on a daily basis. Whether they are for entertainment purposes only or as in the case of a computer, to aid us in our jobs, we rely too much on using our eyesight just to get almost anything done. While that is normal, what is not normal is the long hours we spend staring at one of these items, especially with a PC, which may lead to computer eye strain.

So if you are suffering from eye strain, the simplest and the quickest remedy for that is to take a break from using all of the items mentioned above. Why? Because it is the constant and very long hours of using them that brings the stress to our eyes.Even a fifteen minute break would be beneficial for you.

Are you not allowed to take frequent fifteen minute breaks? That is not common in most offices, but that does no mean you can not stop for a few seconds and just stare at a less stressful sight in your office. That would certainly help.

And since our eyes are also composed of muscles or at least being supported by a group of muscles, building them up or exercising them would benefit you in the long run. Especially in alleviating computer vision syndrome. Add to that the fact that it is very easy to exercise our eye muscles. Here is what you can do: close your eyes as firmly as you can for a few seconds to even a minute and then slowly open them. Do that up to five times.

Often staring in front of the computer screen for extended hours each day is the main cause for most computer eye strain problems. And this can be remedied by adjusting the contrast of your computer monitor, adjusting the size of the fonts so you do not have to squint, or making your room brighter.

One other thing that you can try is to simply use an over the counter eye drop. It is often an effective means to help sooth your tired eyes. Of course if you currently have a certain eye condition, it would be best if you consult with your eye doctor first before trying out any such kind of product.

And here is something that I think everyone of us should do, and that is to take a vacation. Not just a day or two of time off from our jobs, but at least a five-day retreat some place that we find relaxing or exciting. When we do not have to work or feel the pressure of it, sometimes our health problems diminish.

So there you have it, these are just some of the suggestions that you can try to help relieve your computer eye strain problem. Not everything will work, maybe to some people even computer reading glasses will not be that effective, and so if the problem persists, as always, consult your doctor.
