Effective Graphic Design For Your Website Design

By:

Graphic design is the creative spirit of your website design. It is an important part in the web design process. Graphic design encompasses elements from button controls, colour scheme, text size, colour and background images. The web designer needs to take into consideration the purpose of the website and its target audience to create the design accordingly.

Effective graphic design lends an air of professionalism to your website. It increases its visual appeal, usability and professionalism. Intelligently designed websites increases the usability of your site. Navigation is kept simple, graphics are content appropriate and eye-pleasing colors and text styles are chosen. This encourages visitors to stay on your site. In order to benefit from these advantages, take the following points into consideration:

Remember the whole purpose is to get the communication across. Adding a bunch of stuff just because it's "cool" might or might not get people to want to stay on your site or come back again.

When creating your website, be sure to not add too many visually distracting elements like animation or flashing items near important content. Elements such as floating bubbles, scrolling text, blinking text can draw your viewers eye away from your content and make it impossible for them to take away your intended information.

Background images and colours are very common on websites these days. A background that makes it difficult to read your content will not only drive visitors away but will also give them a headache. Your background image should be seamless otherwise it will look awkward and unattractive. Further your background image should contain either mostly light or mostly dark colours to facilitate choosing an appropriate contrasting text color. Finally your web page text color and the general color of your background image must contrast enough to render readability.

Photos on your site should be used to enhance your content and should never be used gratuitously. Choosing images that are completely unrelated to your content can give a bad impression. Placing a picture of a woman in a bikini on your site about accounting services will NOT encourage people to read your content. Make sure your photos are related to your content and they provide a visual stimulus that will help viewers remember your site.

If you have a website, there is something you are probably trying to communicate to your site visitors. The designer needs to keep in mind what message needs to be delivered to the visitors every step in the design process by using the right element of design.
