Educational Technology Can Be Used In An Office Setting Too

By:

Educational technology has come a long, long way over the years. No longer are instructors merely using whiteboards or chalkboards to get their points across to their students. No, now instructors are using computers and projectors to teach students about the prominent battles in world history or showing them all the faucets of the universe. This technology has turned classrooms into exciting destinations where students are happy to go instead of longing to escape from to go play outside.

What is interesting is that this educational technology can actually be effectively used in an office setting as well. Take whiteboards of the interactive variety for example. These could be utilized in a conference room setting where you or your employees could do a presentation with it. Sure you may be thinking, well how is this different from putting on a regular Power Point presentation. The answer is that what makes it different is as an alternative to simply clicking a mouse and walking everyone through the presentation, a person can actually give a dynamic presentation where they can stand up and move around what is being projected to the audience using some kind of pointer or pen device.

By being able to move things around on the presentation screen, employees can engage other employees during meetings and conferences. Or if the presenter really needs to hit home a point, he or she can do so by highlighting what is being projected on the screen or underlining it. Like, if there is a bottom line sales goal that needs to be met. This makes for a dynamic workplace setting that will get people excited about heading to meetings instead of wishing they could go to lunch or sit at their desks. Basically, educational technology has the same positive effect on workplaces as it does in the classroom.

There are other educational technology tools that can be used in an office setting along with the interactive whiteboards that were just mentioned. For instance, if a supervisor is looking to poll his or her employees on a new idea, but everyone in the room is a bit apprehensive to really share their true opinion, that supervisor could employ a student response system to do so. It is a handheld type device where the employees can answer a survey question anonymously. This allows the supervisor to get an honest response, something that he or she might not get otherwise.

Basically, educational technology is extremely versatile and cannot just be used in the classroom so do not hesitate and employ it at your office today.
