Eczema And Its Treatment

By: jerry james

Living with eczema can be one of the toughest conditions to have to live with, it not only affects the very young but can also affect the elderly, although not scientifically proven, some people say the condition does let up the older you get, but in my experience from working in the pharmacy industry it can actually get a lot worse.

Eczema is a skin disorder that includes symptoms such as itchiness, dryness and redness and affects millions of people all over the world. If you have already tried taking a prescription medication, you have probably realized that drugs focus on the symptoms alone and have only temporary results. In case you want a natural and effective treatment that has no side-effects, then it would be a very good idea to try natural home remedies to cure eczema.

Treatment:

1.You should avoid fried foods and soda because they both dehydrate the body and hydration will keep your skin moist and smooth. With that said the first home remedy is water. Sure it sounds too simple to be true, but if you drink enough water each day (at least 2 liters), then you will have healthy and moist skin. This helps to prevent and cure eczema from the inside out.

2.Indulge in fatty food, fish, avocados and nuts in general as they help in enhancing the immunity level of the body. Do not eat rich food substances like cakes, pastries and chocolates as they tend to flare up dermatitis.

3.Avoid clothing that is poor fitting or scratchy. Wool can really irritate your skin. Synthetic materials, such as polyester, can irritate as well.

4.Carrot and musk melon is particularly beneficial in cases of eczema. The should be taken three to four times daily reducing the intake later on and adding milk and curds. Muskmelon should be washed down with cows milk. The combination of muskmelon and milk is not harmful as it is commonly supposed.

5.Eat food that is rich in fiber. This helps in water retention in the body. Fruits, vegetables, whole grain, sprouts, wheat bran etc are good examples of fibrous foods. Avoid foods that are acidic in nature. Acidic food helps recurrence of eczema.

6.Consume fish-oil supplements: taking a fish oil supplement every day will help you alleviate the symptoms because they contain omega-3 fatty acids.

7.Applying simmered mango skin and pulp will increase hydration.

8.Coconut Oil - Applying coconut oil is actually a very good home remedy for eczema, the only draw back is, it's a tiny bit greasy.

9.Mud Packs - A light mud pack can actually be very beneficial for the skin, drying up a lot of the bad bacteria on the skin.

10.Other home remedies for eczema are neem leaves that are boiled in mustard oil until they turn black. Drain the oil into a container and apply this on the itchy and inflamed skin at least four times a day. Neem is a tree which is constantly used in India for alternative medicine remedies.
