This requires some research and solid understanding of your target customer, but with sufficient time you can actually implement a basic marketing campaign in the span of a day.

A 5-step ecommerce marketing plan, developed from past "in-the-trench" experience with ecommerce marketing for Small And Medium Sized enterprises. By implementing each of the actions below, you will create a very effective holiday marketing campaign, this also results in a marketing plan that is easy to carry put and generates results very quickly.

Ecommerce Marketing Plan 1- define your customer

Defining your customer is a very important step, very important like naming your business or your products. Below is a set of questions that need to be addressed as honestly as possible.

* Whats the gender of my ideal customer?

* Is my ideal customer a telecommuter or an office worker?

* What's my ideal customers job profile - manager, an executive, telecommuter or entrepreneur?

* What's my ideal customers net household income?

* What is my ideal customer education level?

* Can my ideal customers spending budget accommodate my product/ or service at one time, occasionally or constantly?

* How does my ideal customer use my product/or service, do they buy as a gift or use it themselves?

* How much time does my ideal customer spent on the internet?

* What are my ideal customers product/ or service expectations?

When you finish answering the above, you will have a clear picture of where to place your message and also how to draft your pitch.

Ecommerce Marketing Plan Step 2- Selecting your targets

Where will you post your ads? this is effectively done through a coordinated effort in number of sites frequented by customers. If you appear in a number of places, then your brand visibility and message retention is stronger. Complementary sites will also help in cross promoting your site to visitors who see you there, this method provides an excellent message reinforcement. It actually good to look for well promoted holiday sites.

When you're looking for sites to feature your ads at look at the given sites traffic, the number of external links, search engine placement, quality of present ads and the type of message being presented there, you should also look at things such as are any of your competitors featured there or are ads of businesses unrelated to yours and that of the host pages, all these are clues to measure how best fit the site is for your message.

Pay-Per-Click is also another good advertising option worth consideration for your ecommerce marketing campaign though this can be daunting if you're unfamiliar with it. If unsure or new to PPC then stick to those places that let you set daily ad expenditures, Google does and is highly advisable.
