Eco Museum Cap De Cavalleria!

By:

Romans arrived in Menorca about 100BC and established a Military base
at Sanitja. Over time the settlement grew into a city and a substantial
commerial existed by 300AD.

It is believed today that the Romans were not the first setteler in this
area as there is evidence of a Talayotic population in this area long before
the Romans arrived.

It is thought that the infamous Balearic Slingshot Warriors played a major part in the Roman invasion as they were employed as mercenaries by the Roman Empire.

The Romans called Sanitja, Sanicera and from the works of Pliny the Elder it is clear that this city was a major center within the Roman Empire.

Today the Eco Museum of Cavalleria has an exhibition entitled
"A World to Discover" which includes exhibits from Talayotic times right up to the
recent past. Here the coastal area is also being developed as a Marine Reserve and exhibition rooms are planned.

The area also hosts a number of spectacular beaches but you will not be disappointed if you
can make time to visit the Eco Museum of Cavalleria.
