If youre feeling a bit down, sluggish or out of sync? Maybe you have some aches and pains, digestive problems or your skin is breaking out? These are all signs that your body could do with a detox.

Detoxing the body is about giving the body a rest from its hard work of digesting our normal diet of fast and processed foods, fruits and vegetables laden with toxins, sugary drinks, etc. Your body will then thank you with giving you more energy and making you feel fresher and lighter.

When you do a detox, you help the body eliminate toxins through the skin (the largest organ) as well as the intestines, kidneys, liver, blood and your lymph system.

If you decide to do this, then not only are you giving your organs a rest but the liver is now your good friend helping drive toxins out. Your blood becomes cleaner and circulation improves and your kidneys and intestines help eliminate that stored up waste.

Once youve done your first detox, you will think of doing it more often. Once a year is great but also at the beginning of every season is very beneficial.

First of all think of the harmful things you put in your body and do your best to eliminate them for say one to two weeks. This would included coffee, black tea, alcohol, cigarettes (of course!), sugar, saturated fat and white flour. Next take a look at all the chemicals in your skin care and hair care products. When I discovered this, I threw out almost everything even ones labeled natural turned out to be anything but that. Then check your household cleaners.

Join a yoga class, meditate. Going to the gym regularly also helps the lymph system move toxins quicker through the body.

Put in your body only fresh, pure and simple foods for the duration of the detox. Drinking plenty of water and herbal tea is a great start. Make juicing part of your daily routine as this helps your system flush out the unwanted debris it has accumulated. Eat light salads, clear soups, steamed veggies and fish.

Before you know it, your body will feel much better.
