Easy Paper Craft Projects For Children

By:

Paper craft projects really are a fun, inexpensive, and straightforward way of spending some time with your kids. Most of the time, all you need is some scrap paper and some accessories, so essentially your art supplies are practically free. No matter the age of your child, it usually is simple to find a craft project that they'll enjoy making. Here are some easy craft projects that you could try for starters.

Necklaces from Paper Beads

These beads are so easy and safe to form that even small children may help make them. You just need some scrap paper, for example construction or scrapbook paper, a lollipop stick or section of small dowel rod, a ruler, a set of scissors as well as some tacky craft glue. If small kids will likely be making these beads, you might like to cut a supply of paper triangles to allow them to use in advance. To commence making the beads, use a section of stiff cardstock along with a ruler to make a triangle template. The width of the triangle's base will be corresponding to the length of the bead. Next, using your template as a guide, draw triangle shapes upon the reverse side of your papers. You then will cut out the triangles. Beginning at the wide base of your triangle, roll the section of triangle paper up around the lollipop stick or dowel. Apply a modest amount of glue onto the tip of your triangle, and press in position to make the bead shape. Hold it in place for one to two minutes and then take off the bead from the stick, placing on a piece of waxed paper or aluminum foil to dry. Once the glue has dried you'll string your beads onto cord to create bracelets or necklaces.

Making Paper Snowflake Crafts

A vintage craft that youngsters never appear to tire of is making paper snowflakes. If you would like to make a paper snowflake, you cut yourself a large square of inexpensive white copier or printer paper. First fold the square in half vertically, then you will fold it in half again horizontally. You will make one last fold, this time diagonally, forming a triangular shape. Use scissors to make small cuts across the long edges of your triangles. You then will cut an ornamental edge over the short end of the triangle, and this will become the outer side of your snowflake when opened. When you're done, carefully unfold your snowflake. You can use these snowflakes to decorate your windows throughout the cold months of winter. You may also develop interesting wall art by placing one or two in some pretty square white picture frames to put on your wall.

Origami Folding

Your older children will love Origami, which is the art of Oriental paper folding. Look online or perhaps in bookstores to find simple instructions for creating these interesting paper crafts. Dependent on which project you've chosen, you could possibly end up having a lovely three dimensional piece of art that you can display on your shelf, or perhaps a flat folded piece worthy of displaying using an 8x10 picture frame. Either way, it's really a good way of making beautiful art from simple items of paper.
