By:

I've got continually been led to believe, both academically and socially that menopause could be a natural phenomenon undergone by girls in their late forties and fifties. I used to be conjointly conscious of the physical and mental changes accompanying menopause, following my conversation with ladies who have experienced it. However it came as a blow once I scan a commentary on Early Menopause that said that menopause may occur even before 40 - in twenty's, thirty's and even in teens. Suddenly, the years that had seemed so far away were in my proximity. Menopause was not anymore something that pronounced ladies's aging existence on Earth, it was one thing that could shatter a woman's dream of motherhood.

This thought provoked me to understand a lot of concerning Early Menopause. I share through this text what I learnt about this medical condition, with my fellow women.

Though each these conditions basically imply menopause before the traditional age (traditional age being between late 40s and early 50s), doctors diagnose and put a reputation to it depending on the age at that menopause occurs. If one undergoes menopause before 45, medically it's Early Menopause; if menopause sets in before forty years of age, it is Premature Menopause. Premature Menopause is generally used interchangeably with Premature Ovarian Failure (POF), a condition where ovaries stop traditional functioning before forty years. However; there lies a distinction between both these conditions. In premature menopause there is a complete cessation of menstrual flow whereas ladies with POF may experience irregular periods for years, and even have a risk of obtaining pregnant.
