Dyshidrotic Eczema - Knowing Is Half The Battle

By:

Dyshidrotic eczema is a skin condition that is characterized by red and inflamed skin, itching and burning sensations on the affected area, as well as the formation of blisters on the skin. Though the disease can affect any part of the body, it is usually found on the palms of the hands, between fingers and on the feet.

The severity of the itching and burning sensations and their associated level of discomfort can vary greatly. So can the size of the affected area. Certain patients could have symptoms that are usually mild and will go away after some time, while certain other people could suffer from a more severe case that can take a long time to heal and be particularly difficult to manage. Another common name for this skin condition is dyshidrotic dermatitis.

While it most commonly affects people who are between 20 and 40 years old, dyshidrotic eczema can happen at any age. It will also affect people without regard to their sex, origin or skin color. While the presence of certain irritants on the skin can cause outbreaks of dyshidrotic dermatitis, the disease is not caused by lack of proper hygiene. In fact, washing the skin too often, especially with soaps that are harsh on the skin can cause an even more severe irritation and inflammation to develop in those who are affected by eczema.

What exactly causes dyshidrotic eczema is still being studied, but so far no specific common factor has been isolated yet. Certain things are associated with the disease: some irritant chemicals, genetic predisposition and also suffering from high levels of stress. All is not lost as there are many thing you can do today.

While it should be known that there currently is no "cure" for this disease and no treatment can be 100% successful for all people, you still have many options to get your eczema under control, many of which involve using natural products that are very gentle on the skin.
