But it also stores it in the thyroglobulin. Iodine is necessary in other important organs such as the stomach, thymus, breast and salivary glands, to name a few. Please be aware that cancers can occur in the thyroid gland and seem to be more common in females. It will appear as a painless lump in the neck. It can be diagnosis by using a needle biopsy.
