Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels star in quite possibly the funniest movie ever recorded, Dumb & Dumber. The writing and acting make this film a must see if you are in the mood for some laughs. If you want to know more about the film check out the movie review and synopsis below.
Synopsis
Life couldn't be simpler for Llyod Christmas (Jim Carrey) and Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels). Llyod drives his limo everyday and Harry works as a mobile pet groomer but their earnings barely pay the bills. When Llyod lands a job driving Mary Swanson (Lauren Holly) to the airport, suddenly Llyod and Harry's life changes. Llyod is taken by Mary's beauty as he falls in love with her on their short drive to the airport. Llyod drops Mary off and just as he is about to leave he notices that Mary left her briefcase on the floor of the airport. Not wanting anything to happen to the briefcase of his new love, Llyod rushes into the airport and grabs the briefcase so that he can return it and see Mary one more time.
When Llyod returns to his apartment he tells Harry that they need to go to Aspen to return the briefcase to Mary. Skeptical at first, Harry eventually agrees to go with Llyod because he sees how important this is to him. So Harry and Llyod set out on their adventure across the country unaware that they are being followed by the individuals who were supposed to pick up the briefcase at the airport.
If you are looking for laughs the adventure that Llyod and Harry go on to return the briefcase is hilarious. Midway through their journey they accidently open the briefcase and realize that it is full of cash. Since they don't have any money with them they decide it would be alright if they just borrow a few dollars with the promise to pay it back. Of course with very little self control the two friends end up buying expensive cars and fancy ski equipment. There is even a scene where they are using cash to blow their noses during a sad commercial on television.
It isn't long before Harry and Llyod arrive in Aspen and return the empty briefcase to Mary. There is more to the ending but it isn't the best part of the film and I don't want to give it away.
Movie Review
What more can be said about Dumb & Dumber than it is truly one of the best comedies ever made. Let me preface this by saying since the word dumb is in the title twice you should expect plenty of dumb. Not only is the movie well written the comedy team of Carrey and Daniels is absolutely amazing. The Farrelly Brothers were the brains behind the writing and directing of Dumb & Dumber. The team would go onto create Shallow Hal, Stuck on You and There's Something About Mary.
The year Dumb & Dumber was released, 1994, was a huge year for Jim Carrey and the
entertainment world as it was also the year Ace Ventura: Pet Detective was released. Carrey would forever look back at 1994 as the year his career took off. With over thirty films to his name,
Jim Carrey movies continue to make audiences laugh, cry and demand more.
