Dubai's attracts tourism through shopping, adventure activities, Luxurious Dubai hotels & Life style & at the same time maintain an attraction for ancient and modern attractions. As of 2007, Dubai was the 8th most visited city of the world. Dubai is expected to accommodate over 15 million tourists by 2015
Dubai has been called the "shopping capital of the Middle East". Dubai alone has more than 70 shopping malls, including the world's 7th largest shopping mall, Dubai Mall. The city draws large numbers of shopping tourists from countries within the region and from as far as Eastern Europe, Africa and the Indian Subcontinent. Almost anything & everything is available in Dubai, but the best things to buy in Dubai are textiles, electronics and gold.
Dubai is known as "the City of Gold" and Gold Souk in Deira houses nearly 250 gold retail shops. Buyers can find products in western chain stores with the original tags quoting euro or sterling prices & when its converted into Dirhams it cost around 20-30% mark-up price.
Dubai Shopping Festival has been the biggest shopping Festival event in Dubai & the UAE. During this festival every shop will offer discount & benefits to all the buyers, starting in January and ending February. To attract more shopping tourism a similar Dubai Summer Surprises has been started trying to get more people coming in during low season.
